Difraser and friend photographer Mike Stickney filmed a spectacular wedding at the military base. A storm had been brewing offshore and for a spell it looked like rain, but just before nightfall a burning red sun lit up the sky. Difraser and Mike are pros at hybrid photography, which is a blend of photographs and professional video with great audio.
Early evening wedding…meant to be sunset. But except for a few glimpses here and there the sun had been hiding behind thick grey clouds all day long. I am a photographer/wedding cinematographer in Kauai, and I’ve seen many days like this, days when one would think, surely the wedding on the beach will be cancelled. But the skies have a way of opening for the most special of occasions. And on this day, they did again, well, they didn’t completely open, but we didn’t get rained on. The sky was gray and charcoal, patches of white, occasionally a hint of blue. While some would say drab, I called it dramatic. The bride and groom said their vows, and I shot away, then we did some nice stuff as the skies got darker and darker. No sunset, but it was magnificent.
